Cherry & Ebony Single Foot $25 +$3 S/H
RENAN Cherry w/ Ebony tipped bridges bring a clarity and added brightness over standard issue maple bridges. I experimented early on using reclaimed old-growth maple and while I liked the sound, they did not have the punch I was looking for. The design is based off Fielding/ Buckeye 5-hole bridge styles. The genius of the single foot design is zero bridge sag under string tension.

Nylon & Gut String Bridges $20 + $3 S/H
I’ve experimented using old growth Heart Pine (has a high sap content- an added weight) Virginia Pine, Pitch Pine and Basswood. Each softwood brings a unique nuance to the performance and sound of a nylon/gut string banjo. Basswood adds brightness and the most punch, where as the heavier Heart Pine offers the most bass and low end growl, but it lacks volume. Heart pine can sound ‘muddy’ to some. Virginia Pine strikes the balance between the two. 2-foot or 3-foot? The 3-foot does not sag although it adds more mass to the bridge. More mass = more bass and less clarity. Less mass = more volume, added brightness. I prefer the sound of basswood on my nylon stringed banjos and I vary between a 2 or 3-footed bridge. Every banjo demands a distinct voice and every ear hears differently. It’s best to experiment.
Sizes: 7/16 – 3/4″
All bridges are finished with boiled linseed oil.
